Action for AIDS Volunteer organization. Action for AIDS (AFA) was formed in 1988 to raise awareness of HIV- AIDS and to offer assistance to victims of the disease. The organization provides medical subsidies, legal assistance and social support to patients and their relatives. Action for AIDS also organizes community outreach programmes in vernacular languages, anonymous HIV testing, counselling, and AIDS conferences. It publishes a journal, The ACT, and is involved in AIDS research.
