SPRING Singapore Statutory board. SPRING (Standards, Productivity, and Innovation for Growth) Singapore was originally the National Productivity Board (NPB), which was set up in 1972. In 1996, the merger of the NPB with the Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research led to the formation of the Productivity and Standards Board. In 2002, this was renamed SPRING Singapore. Its overall mission is to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. This involves promoting productivity, industry development, market access, enterprise capabilities and service excellence.

In addition, as the national standards authority, SPRING Singapore coordinates product standards, codes of practice and management system standards. It also regulates weights and measures.
